2nd Annual Ted Davis Memorial Kendo Seminar


We invite you to join us in a seminar with Kenji Horiyama Sensei, kendo kyoshi 8th dan, currently a professor in the Department of Sport Science at Chukyo University in Nagoya and the kendo club head coach. During his coaching career, his students have won the all Japan intercollegiate individual women’s division twice and placed third once. The men have won third place five times. In the Japan intercollegiate team matches, they have won the championship once, and placed second in each of the men’s and women’s divisions. Date:     Saturday September 18th and Sunday September 19th, 2010

:     Saturday September 18th

               10:00am – 12:00pm     Lecture “How to build kendo skills”
               12:00pm – 1:00pm       ($10 Lunch, please indicate when you RSVP)
               1:00pm – 4:00pm         Kendo Practice – focus will be on practical applications from the lecture
                                                         session, followed by free practice.

                5:00pm - 7:00pm         Post Seminar Dinner – Please indicate if you would like to attend when you
                                                         RSVP.


                Sunday September 19th

               10:00am – 2pm           How to practice basic skills using bokuto (AJKF kyu grading activity)
                                                       followed by free
practice.
               3:00pm – 5pm             Closing BBQ

Location:     University of Victoria, McKinnon Gym

Entry Fee:    By donation

Parking
:        Available beside McKinnon Gym, $2 all day

Attendance:  Please RSVP by Friday, September 3rd and also indicate if you wish to order
                            lunch ($10), and if you are coming to the post seminar dinner on sat evening.
